350M radius around Flinders St Viaduct now :)

Garry, would you have any idea what was the VR's set speed for a 350m radius curve?

Jamie

EDIT: Nevermind, 30mph according to Mark Bau's website

G'day H222,

...a 350 meter radius curve, you say, Jamie? Hmmm, that would be equivalent to 17.5 chains. You do realise that the real world one is actually only 12 Chains/240 meters radius and I notice from your images that you have straightened out the two 20 chain/400 meter radius reverse curves that should be between the end of the 12 chain curve out of Spencer Street and the point where the viaduct ceases at Flinders street (which may explain the discrepancy)...

..irrespective of the radius of the curves, the Working Timetable listed (still does, I'm sure) a maximum speed for all goods trains of 30 KpH/20 MPH and 50 KpH/30 MPH for Passenger Trains (of ALL types) over the entire length of the viaduct...

...slightly later...

...after a closer inspection of your images, Jamie, I have realised that which it is that you have done. You have followed the course of the line laid out on the terrain that represents the location of the 'New' Viaduct (which would definitely account for the greater radius). I am of the opinion, that given the presence of only 4 tracks between the two stations, one is not really entitled to 'cheat' in this manner but since it is supposedly a fictitious route, you can do as you wish, I guess...

Thanks Garry, I did relay it and now have it at about 240m radius, which also gives me quite a bit of straight to run along

I downsized Flinders St, not entirely done yet

Finally finished reskinning the Xtraps in Metro livery.

Image

I left out any text on the sides of the body sadly because they are mirrored and ORTEM would look a bit odd. Also the white squares above the door I hate but cant remove as they are a separate texture (single texture) that is used over ALL the doors of the car...no win situation here. The pattern was hand-drawn by me with photo reference as the pattern images I found didn't match up with what is in use.

Also that layout is a test module I'm working on for a modern day suburban station with a small section of tram line (hence the Yarra Trams "B" in the background, of which I haven't yet cloned the texture for the trailer unit, hence there being two motor units).

Finally got around to completing the other section of the "B" class tram in Yarra Trams Mk 4 Livery;

I also swapped out the stock diamond pantograph with the one from the xtrap. Whilst it is too far forward and facing the wrong way to be accurate for the B class, I think it looks close enough given the model itself isn't of a B xD

Heh, yeah the Bridgehampton Metro South 2 route is excellent for a small 3 baseboard but high detail tram route, I do all my tram driving in it with the automated session currently as my own tram route isn't yet in a presentable state!

Anybody know which lines the Bs are usually found on? I'm making destination boards for these to replace the ones it comes with to more appropriate LED displays for Melbourne.

Also as a bonus, I didn't have to make any edits at all to drive these trams or this route in TS12 with SP1 installed which is even better.

Never mind, found a good link for showing the destinations of certain tram types;
