They won't work in any other version besides Trainz a New Era as mentioned in the original announcement post.
This is due to the scripting that these wagons use.

Unfortunately Trainz Simulator 2 Mac and Trainz Simulator 12 do not support the texture replacement system that I setup for these wagons (which allows the normals maps, and reflection and specular maps, to be swapped so that they match the weathering on the wagon). Attempts to use it in these editions will result in the wagons appearing invisible. These editions also do not support the automatic numbering system in use, nor do they support some of the other functions on them. These functions are needed to make the content as realistic as possible.

You'll need to update your lamps and coupler mesh libraries manually mate. Either right click on those assets and select 'download', or manually find the new versions by searching for author 'S301' in Content Manager and download the new versions....Zec only uploaded them a week or so ago so they should be near the top :)
