As far as I know, there's only really 1 3D printing place in Victoria, which is RapidPro ( http://rapidpro.com.au/ ). I used him a few times, however he is terrible at getting back to you with prices (and the online quote system is pretty ordinary for pricing, due to the way 3DSMax models export).

Personally, I'm looking at either http://www.rapidprototype.com.au/ (for brass castings in particular - remember, a brass casting could be used for a master for resin or whitemetal casting as well! - They are in Sydney though), or http://www.finelineprototyping.com/ (US company, for any other printing - again, needs to be used as a master as the microgreen stuff aint cheap, but the resolution is tops!).

Will be there bright and early on Saturday morning :) Word from a reliable source tells me the BRM P Class won't (yes thats right, won't) be ready for Caufield, and that Sandown or HBMRC next year looks more likely. Not much has been said about the modern Flattops though ;)

Looking forward to what hopefully is a good exhibition!

Just got home now. Had a great chat to Stevo and Timo and said a quick hello the Jamie. Picked myself up a book about Victorias Country branch lines with quite a few pictures about Mornington

Yes, I had a good day today. Met up with Michael and we toured around for a bit, took some pics and purchased The Narrow Gauge by Nick Anchen. A very interesting, informative and reliable read I thoroughly suggest taking a look at if you are a VR fan. Has plenty of images from the various NG lines and locomotives.

Good job to all those involved and I look forward to next year.
Cheers
Tim :ugeek:

I wasn't there long, I got there as it opened, saw Jamie, but I ended up leaving just before 10 as it was hot and stuffy inside :(

I attended Saturday, arrived at roughly 12:00pm and left just after 2:00pm...

However, I did have a fantastic time, wandering around, video recording stuff on the JVC and using the Sanyo for photos. I also ran into Stevo and Timo for the first time, and saw Jamie, but didn't want to disturb him...He was playing on his Ipod

Got fantastic pictures and videos, perhaps I can upload images after I finish modifying a Lima 0-4-0 shunter diesel that I picked up at the pre-owned stands for $15, I can convert it into something like Puffing Billy's D21 loco...

Cheers,
Nathan

Turned out to be a pretty good exhibition this year. A few interesting layouts and a few interesting future releases.

I didn't get a cheap B-class. Instead I got:

-Strath Hobbies MM/MF bogie cattle wagon kit.
-SEM welded IZ/RY kit (just released).
-SEM WT water tank kit.
-DVD "Train Time Victoria 2010".
-4 volumes by Railmac on the Lauchlan Valley Railway.

For those who didn't go, here are some things you missed:

Eureka K-class:

I'm guessing none of you saw the prototype H cars and IEV102 there being made by North West.

I'm liking the look of that K, even though my future module and stock will be based on the final year of A class diesels on the Stony Point service.
