Has anyone seen some good videos on the net about trains?

Like these:

D3 639 on the last train to the Kirrak Coal Mine

Last Steam Train east of Leongatha with D3 639 and K153

Great stuff! I've always wanted to see more of the Kilkunda region :)

Cheers

The driver of D3 658 is not a very good driver at all, suppose to let the wheels grip before opening the regulator again, letting it slip like that damages the tires and rails, D3's are not slippery as I've been on the footplate of D3 658 around Newport Workshops a few times and never seen her slip while K Class slips every couple of feet.

Here's a short one of Wonthaggi from 'Rail Motor Journeys Over Lost VR Lines' the rest of it is with a 280 Walker from Wonthaggi to Nyora.

Cheers.

In about a month's time the UK will be celebrating 75 years since LNER A4 4468 'Mallard' officially broke the speed record for steam locomotives during a braking test on July 3rd 1938. I concede that is much controversy of other locos reaching higher speeds although they are neither official, or, in the case of the US, legal.

Anyway, as the celebrations draw closer a certain group of volunteers were successful in cutting through a library of red tape to exceed the permitted track speed for steam locos of 75MPH with a run of Mallard's sister 4464 'Bittern' with an early morning run which reached 90MPH.

I'm sure if they brought it to Germany they could get away with running it as fast as they want. I've heard they extended such an invitation to Peppercorn A1 'Tornado'

Cheers
Tim

Hey all,

These videos may not be good to you guys, but their good to me as it's the Railway I grew up with.... When there wasn't just one or two types of locomotives on Passenger Trains unlike today.

This is also the era that used R 766 every day on school holidays to Geelong and R 707 to Bachus Marsh with K's on crew training on goods trains out of Geelong to Spencer St.

I was 6 years old when I started watching trains at Corio *1991*

Cheers.

This, Aaron, is the era I would have liked to have seen. R766 running V/Line services, Ks on Geelong-Spencer Street. I even wish I got to see R766 take the goods out Geelong way in the 80s or 90s
