Hi All
This one may be of interest to a few here. On the evening of July 28th 2012, Rail Scenes Photography will be running a 'photo charter' event at Newport Workshops. This event will be held after dark, allowing photographs of some of Steamrail's locomotives in a way that's not normally seen :) The event is being run by Newtel Productions and ZR Photography. There is a limit of 30 places in this event as well.

You can also view further information on the facebook page here

There will be 3 'sets' and each group of 10 will spend 1hr at each set - ample time to capture a variety of photographs. This should include a number of 'models' or 'actors' representing crews for the locomotives, or other personnel, and each set is intended to cover a number of 'scenes'. The locomotives to be featured in this event are R761, D3 639, K153 and K190 (subject to availability), representing the 1950s on the Victorian Railways.

Personally, I'm really looking forward to this, as I would expect these sets to produce some stunning photos!

Regards
Zec

Slowly working through my photos from the night. Was taking my time (seeing as I had about 3 hours on the one set!), and helping others out as well with tips and suggestions. Will likely take far fewer next time as well :)

First few are up anyway!

K153 and K190 sit under the lights at Newport Workshops.

K153 basks in the light at Newport Workshops as a wisp of steam drifts around the pilot.

K190 rests in the dark at Newport as steam drifts around it's boiler.

Sepia/Black & White version of the above.

Will post more as I upload them :)

They could have been put into light steam (only enough to move the loco around the yard at slow speeds) or towed around by Y164 or 707 Ops's F class. I would say that they are in probably in light steam as the turbo gens don't appear to be on (no loco lighting) but there are signs there is some steam effects be impemented.

They weren't in steam this time around, however we are looking into having them in light steam (hopefully enough to run the turbo's as well) for the next event :)

All steam effects in this case were produced by smoke generators, which we'll be looking into using next time to help supplement the actual steam :)
