It probably derailed at one point and he turned SSJ and lifted it up from the center then he warped it by mistake.

Hi Michael

...it is such a sorry sight that we no longer have "Carriage" builders any more, such character and workmanship went into all the timber carriages etc, nearly all gone nowadays.

Ballan Junction, Victrack made a mess of this Junction, the track next to us should merge onto it... but it merges into our track instead and we had a 10 min wait for the points to change, when it went to double track further back it was also a 7min wait for those points.

Climbing Warrenheip to Geelong.

People are asking V/Line to get a Geelong-Ballarat service, to me the track is a mess, too many cross overs/points, just from North Geelong to Gheringhap was 30 mins due to the amount of complex points when you merge to the Dual gauge and off the Dual Gauge, Between Gheringhap and Lal Lal it was clear sailing and took well over 2hours, I didn't time it though but I'd say it took 2h 30mins ish.

On the way back to Geelong it was almost Clear sailing, had a few slow runs over crossings between Lal Lal, about a 4 min wait at Gheringhap, then it was 45kph to North Geelong C where we waited about 12min before going to North Shore, took 1hour 52mins from Ballarat, between SG trains and BG trains there isn't enough by-pass tracks between Gheringhap and Lal Lal so to have a passenger service every 2 or 3 hours isn't going to work.

Cheers.

Ha I do respect that driver highly but I would rather not be so formal :P
I did put both hands up in the air and give him two thumbs up when he stopped, I believe that is enough thanks on my part

Cheers
Michael

G'day Awesometrainz7 et al,

...I am glad to hear that (and so it should be)...

...it seems the 'unscheduled' stop at Tyabb was for the well known DermPAV member and driver Bill Webb ( a former VR driver). I quote from an email received earlier today (which I have only just read)...

..."... ....Sunday's much-photographed and much-posted Stony Point tour was a tribute to
driver Bill Webb: his career, and his support for Dermpav. On the day, he
was too ill even to be wheeled from his Tyabb nursing home to view the pause
and hear the whistled salute. His brother came trackside to tell us that
Bill had heard from inside. At Stony Point, the presentation was one
prepared for Bill's retirement function, but he didn't retire. Twice he
stated: 'I like the job so much, I can't retire'. I met Bill when he was a
Cohuna driver. Via Stephen McLean, he relayed the news of railmotor
happenings at Bendigo to Divisional Diary in the very early 1970s. The
presentation at Stony Point was made to Bill's three daughters. I was
chatting with one over the lavish afternoon tea: She had been a Cohuna girl.
On the way home, we paused at Tyabb again. Bill's brother informed us that
Bill had just been taken by ambulance to hospital. Today (Wednesday), I was
informed that Bill died last night. He was a friend to many, and has joined
many others who have helped the hobby in many ways....
"...

...I count myself amongst those freinds and am saddened, greatly, by this 'news'. Dare I say, we have lost another great man...

Jerker {:)}

Yes I heard about his passing, indeed another great person lost, though I never knew the man in person I knew the name.
