Basically needs a horn, cab window frame, some pipes for the air tanks, hosebags and what not on the cow catchers and some chairs and controls in the cab....but other than that it's done mesh wise.

That is easily one of the most amazing pieces of work that I have seen.

I must be the only one watching this with envious eyes. Indeed it does need a good weathering but the textures look great. Looking forward to this one? Will it be able to work in 09 and up?

G'day Nick & tommyg,

...I am 'watching', too, Nick (I like to watch! ;) )...

...and although it does need weathering, as a matter of course, I believe that the real 'problem' with the texture here is that Tom has used a standard one pixel colour patch (of the correct RGB values) to apply the 'colours' to the locomotive, where, what is really needed, is a colour patch created from a REAL image off the side of a REAL locomotive, for each of the different colours required. Alternatively, some manipulation (in his preferred GMP) of the standard colour patch to make it look less like a 'colour patch' and more like paint applied to metal may 'help' matters...

Thanks fellas! Certainly will Nick, currently got it work in 10 & 12 so 09 should be no problem (will make sure the build is suitable for 09). Unfortunately weathering/texturing isn't my strongest point, and as you've said Garry, I've just used the one colour all over which doesn't really work. Have applied a bit of weathering though and hasn't come up too bad, however theres heaps more work to do...

G'day tommyg,

...that's looking even better, Tom...

...this may help you. I've downloaded and slightly worked on a texture for the orange for you from my preferred texture site and saved it to the Victrainz "picture storage" area. The URL for it is here...

http://www.pics.victrainz.com.au/Orange_Painted_Metal.tga

...it came to me as a 700 x 700 *.jpg, tiled and I have reduced it to 512 x 512, without removing any of the tiling. Feel free to use as you wish and I reckon with some judicious working in your GMP, you ought to be able to turn it white and blue to use it for the other colours (for a consistent textural look across the locomotive) and don't be afraid to create a 'normal map' from it, either...

...let me know if you want/need some help...
